Cheam has outstanding sporting facilities including a full-size Astro, 6 netball hard courts (4 floodlit), an indoor sports hall, over 100 acres of grounds. Outdoor and Woodland Learning is high on the agenda at Cheam. With our own outdoor activity provision offering adventures on climbing walls and assault courses, as well as a small river and vast woodlands to explore, opportunities are plentiful. There is always time for marshmallows around the much-loved campfire and the freedom and time just to be muddy with friends, is seen as essential.
Classrooms: Cheam has well-equipped classrooms with modern teaching aids and resources to facilitate effective learning.
Sports Facilities: We are fortunate to have extensive sports facilities, including large areas of playing fields, a sports hall, multiple tennis courts, large all weather pitch, a swimming pool, a golf course, cricket nets, rifle range and other outdoor spaces for various sports activities.
Performing Arts: We have a beautiful Chapel, a modern Drama studio, multiple music rooms, and practice spaces for instrumental and vocal tuition.
Libraries: The school has 2 well-stocked libraries providing children with a wide range of books, references, and resources to support their learning.
Science Labs: Our 3 modern Science laboratories are essential for conducting experiments and practical work. These provide children with endless opportunities for hands-on learning.
ICT Facilities: Across the Prep and Pre-Prep we have 3 ICT suites equipped with computers and other technology to support digital learning and research. Technology Lead Learning.
Art and Design Studios: We have a state-of-the-art DT room with 3D printers, CNC routers, robotics and single board computers, a spacious, bright Art room and pottery room complete with kiln to encourage artistic expression and development.
The Nest: The well-being centre is situated in the heart of the school and provides a wide range of mindful activities, events and services to support pupils and staff.
Dining Hall: Children enjoy their meals together with staff in the historic dining rooms. The servery was modernised in 2023.
Boarding Facilities: Our boarding is divided into girls and boys with a large communal area for relaxation and socialising, based in the beautiful main house. The dorms are well decorated and the atmosphere is homely and warm.
The Year 8 Retreat: This is a modern cabin set within Cheam Tops, a dedicated space for our Year 8 pupils. The Retreat is a place for the children to be together during breaktimes.
Outdoor Spaces: Cheam Tops is an extensive tree top play area for children in the Prep school with wooden climbing areas, swings, ropes, bridges and slides. There are countless places to play at breaktimes.
Sensory garden and play areas: The Pre-Prep enjoy a number of play areas from a dedicated sensory garden for growing fruit and vegetables, to climbing equipment and areas for role play, messy play and outdoor learning.
Outdoor Learning: Our CPC facilities include climbing walls, outdoor adventure areas, assault courses, fire pit areas and the much loved stream used for geography course work and weekly stream walks for Pre-Prep. The woodlands provide the perfect spot for den building, walks and connecting to nature.
