We are so pleased to be able to share with you that at the end of the 2022-23 academic year, we sent off our ‘Green Flag’ application to Eco-Schools and were successful!
Last year the Eco-Committee met regularly on Monday’s during Digest, and each term a representative from each form gave up their time and became dedicated to the cause of making our school more sustainable. They came up with ideas for the short and long term, and included giving thoughts on the new set up in the dining hall (with composting!), litter picking, increasing our recycling, and much more. These meetings were hugely important for getting everyone involved in the cause and making plans to make our school more eco-friendly. When we sent off the completed application in July we had a huge range of evidence to share with Eco-Schools, and it was a real pleasure to be able to hand out certificates this week to all those who regularly attended meetings and contributed to the application.
Huge thanks to Miss Gardner, Head of Sustainability, and the children. We can now (very literally) fly the flag for sustainability at Cheam and look forward to making further progress this year!
