Thursday was the first meeting of Mrs Billinger’s Science Club during the enrichment session. One of our Year 8 scholars, helped to run the show and we embarked upon the rainbow fizz experiment. The children began by adding sodium hydrogen carbonate to a boiling tube whilst carefully adding water, and then dilute hydrochloric acid to create a rainbow effect. Fizzing also occurred as carbon dioxide gas was made. The children really enjoyed making the different colours and are looking forward to more adventures and scientific exploits over the next few weeks.
