Each Trustee has the commensurate skills, experience and relationships which the School believes are relevant to the Foundation’s objectives and activities. Victoria Edgington
Foundation DirectorVictoria joined Cheam as Development Director in 2018, when the Cheam Foundation was launched. Victoria has a background in Fund Management, having been a Graduate Trainee at Mercury Asset Management and run institutional mandates for Merrill Lynch Investment Managers, before working for hedge fund RAB Capital. Victoria is highly motivated by social mobility and believes in widening access to exceptional educational opportunities. Away from Cheam, she serves as a Trustee of charity You Before Two as well as mentoring undergraduates on the Durham University Student Leadership Academy. Victoria’s two daughters left Cheam in 2017 and 2018 respectively.
Charlie Chipchase
Chairman of the Foundation TrusteesCharlie has been a Cheam parent since 2016. He is currently Managing Director at Petra Funds Group, a fund administration provider to private equity firms. Before that, over a 25 year career as a lawyer he worked within large international law firms before becoming General Counsel and Head of Sustainability for a US private equity firm. Away from work, Charlie is an avid Newcastle United fan and very average golfer.
Nicola Bearman
FOUNDATION TRUSTEENicola is a parent of four children who have all attended Cheam, with one currently still enrolled. Nicola is a Director at Pacific Investments, a global investment firm. Her passion for charitable work began in her teenage years and continues today, including her notable involvement in a campaign for Great Ormond Street Hospital, which raised over £7 million. Nicola is deeply committed to Cheam, having been connected to the school not only as a parent but also as a sibling of former pupils. A strong advocate for supporting bursary students, Nicola is passionate about creating opportunities and making a meaningful difference in children’s lives through education and charity work.
Ellisha Halford
FOUNDATION TRUSTEEEllisha has three boys at Cheam and her husband Chris was Head Boy of Cheam in 2002. It was the school’s engaging learning environment, unchanged values and strong sense of community that brought the family back after her husband left. With a Master’s degree in Pharmacy, Ellisha previously worked as clinical pharmacist at GSTT and KCH in London, before relocating to New York where she focused on starting her family.
Tara Reeve
FOUNDATION TRUSTEETara Reeve is Director of Admissions at Downe House, having spent many years in many different roles, most latterly as Housemistress in one of the Sixth Form boarding houses. Tara’s love for Cheam started in 2006 when the youngest of her three daughters started in the Nursery. She was impressed by the “give anything a go” culture at Cheam, with children building resilience through Sport, Music and Drama as well as through academic endeavours. Tara also serves as Cheam Governor.
Amy Sugden
FOUNDATION TRUSTEEAmy is a specialist family law advocate, having been called to the Bar in 2006. Previously a tenant at 1 Hare Court Chambers, Amy is currently a tenant at Pump Court Chambers, specialising in Financial Remedies on divorce, and private law children disputes. Amy has three children, two of whom are still at Cheam.
Junko Sheehan
Foundation TrusteeJunko has over 25 years of experience in capital raising and M&A transactions totalling over $30 bn, including spending the last 10 years raising capital for, and growing, buy and build platforms from inception. The last company she founded from scratch and led as CEO is UNAVETS, the leading veterinary platform in Spain and Portugal. Currently, Junko is a Managing Partner at Marconi Capital, advising private equity firms and buy and build platforms on capital raising and growth strategies. Junko has a daughter at Cheam and has always been passionate about causes which support children’s access to quality education and opportunities. Previously, she was a Trustee for Prep for Prep, a charitable programme providing scholarship and career support to underprivileged children in the US.
Yen Sum
Foundation TrusteeYen is a senior partner in the London office of global law firm Latham & Watkins. Over a 25-year career, initially in her native Australia and later in London, Yen has advised corporate, bank and investor clients on financing structures across multiple sectors. Yen is mother to two children at prep school in London and she also has a passion for social mobility and the role played in this by Early Years education.
Yen was appointed to the Cheam Board of Governors in 2024.
